First off, let me say that I'm pretty sure this is the exact same light as Hiro Aquatics. It has the same body, is sold as 15W, has the same internal reflector and even the clear plastic screw terminal is the same. The only difference is the price as they are about $20 cheaper. Now I don't have a Hiro lamp so quality may vary but they look the same as what I saw. beat. However, they are not perfect as there are some limitations. The first and biggest is that they don't have the full 15 watts. You can see my photos where I connected them to Kill-a-Watt and they are less than 13 and one is less than 12 watts. In addition to the advertised 15 W, quality control is also an issue since each lamp has a different power consumption. It's definitely not Kessil. Be aware of this with deeper tanks as your nominal levels will drop from 6" to 12". With my 12 gallon tank, it's less the depth than the limited spread, so I needed multiple light sources to evenly illuminate it. Keep in mind that these are mostly headlights. The second problem is that the plastic clips that attach the flashlight to the tank are very fragile. If you know what you're doing, you know that you need very little pressure to use these mounts on a tank. Also, these clamps are for rimless tanks only. If you have a rim you will either have to cut it or buy another mount to use these lights. The third issue, which I think is the only difference between them and the Hiros, is the matte lenses. This is disadvantageous as you want to squeeze as many lumens out of the light as possible for your plants and the glaze prevents this. I don't know why they did it. It would make sense to use them for path lighting or similar to diffuse the light around your home, but they are intended for planted aquariums. It's not a big deal as clear plastic lenses are pretty cheap, or you can make your own. Those issues aside, I recommend them. You do need a timer or smart socket because they only have an on/off switch and no dimmer, but honestly for the price you don't get those things. of them will be enough. Anything more and you either want a pair or a different light. Also, they're cool white, probably around 6500k, so make sure that's what you want. See my tank picture for an example with three of them.
