**Updated** So in less than a year both lamps have burned out. I don't know if they are suitable for outdoor use, but since they are LED they definitely shouldn't have died even with night use. It wasn't exposed to the elements or anything, it was in a case which kept it dry so I assume extreme temperatures were the problem. The first died in winter, the last died in summer. I'm in a place that experiences all four seasons so none of them are extreme so I'm guessing if you live in one of those places it might not be the best choice. I was working on a replacement for a rusted old gas lamp pole but wanted it to be easy and homemade. I've found that using a regular electric lamp post with these lamps powered by a decent low voltage landscape lighting transformer works great. I replaced it with a low voltage system along with my solar lights and it works great. My only complaint is that like many LED bulbs, the lamp is blocked in the bottom half and looks a bit odd in a fixture from all angles.
