Review on Gates 42243 Water Pump by Gabriel Day

Pump looks good, honestly a little better than I expected for the $30 price I paid. Has a steel metal pulley (not black like the Revain photos) and includes a thermostat seal (rubber ring) and a fiber based gasket for the pump housing itself. The pump uses a cast iron impeller and the machining looks good. The box says 'new' so I'm assuming it's not a refurbished unit. No reason to complain yet, but of course I can only be sure if it has run more than 100,000 km without any problems. I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 as I read on some Toyota forums that OEM pumps now have a metal seal which probably seals better. If you care about cleanliness at Toyota, you should check this out.
