Review on Enhance Performance with Standard Motor Products APS147 Accelerator Pedal Sensor! by Jeff Gopala

Hope it's done right

This was for my 2004 Acura TL. About 2 years ago a real Honda (Acura) of this item cost $80. Luckily I bought it before the price went up to around $200. Even a real Honda block was made in Mexico, so there's a good chance it's OE. They have been known to fail after about 200,000 miles and as soon as they fail you see x3 stupid lightbulbs; CEL, ABS and VSA (same for electronic throttle). In this case, you will significantly lose acceleration, since the ECU puts your engine in emergency mode (the car hardly moves forward). You can temporarily fix the symptom by turning the engine off and restarting it, which takes skill and I wouldn't recommend this to anyone unsure about congestion. Also, it can be brought back to life for a while by cleaning the electrical connections with a contact cleaner. Honda/Acura uses a number of parts made in Mexico. I hope they are up to Honda standards and last at least 150,000 miles.

Pros
  • Great for outdoor activities
Cons
  • Upgradeable
