These drying balls are actually bigger than the tennis balls I use to fluff up my pillows and coats. I like to apply some lavender essential oil on top while fluffing the pillows. These balls are much larger and far better than the homemade ones I made after seeing an article on using dryer balls in place of fabric softener and helping reduce drying time. So many high-tech fabrics are now discouraging liquid fabric softeners, and I love being able to choose an essential oil fragrance. Some things remain static, but the drying time has been reduced. The balls are a bit noisy but not as noisy as tennis balls. So if you have a door to the laundry room, you can keep it closed while drying. I leave them in the dryer all the time and it's easy to count to six. to make sure they stay in the dryer and don't become cat toys or lumps under the covers like little homemade balls do. They seem expensive, but making 100% balls of this size from yarn would cost the same or more, and felting even partially as carefully would be impossible in my experience. I just love the product.
