I think the beauty of these bowls makes cooking even more fun. I use them for various seasonings in a recipe, but they're also big enough to hold chopped ginger, garlic, etc. I love the fact that they are non-reactive so I didn't want plastic. They are very easy to clean. Carefully packaged, nothing was broken in transit. Since the bottoms of the bowls are unfinished terracotta, I assume staining is possible. I just got them so I don't know. It is also possible that they are fragile. However, anything that makes you smile is good when you're grinding ginger. I am very happy with these fun bowls.
