I was surprised that these little things that use almost no electricity can keep me cool! I immediately bought a few of these not knowing what the difference was between them and just assumed they were all amazing. Well, not all are great. This block is better than others I have received because it is EASY to clean. You should put some ice and cold water in the bowl. The tray on this machine is removable for cleaning. The others I have are not. One of them (looks like a Dyson fan) actually has a loop on the tray so it's permanently attached to the machine. Try to clean this compartment and avoid connected electrical cords. My cooler looking Dyson also had too many nooks and crannies that you couldn't clean, making it a breeding ground for bacteria to blow into you. It has a filter that you can soak and then put in the freezer to cool the water too. It's just easier to maintain and cools YOU well, not the space or the air around you, just you. This is the easiest to clean with the removable SQUARE tray, as there are no corners or edges. You have to consider how easy it is to maintain these types of coolers and frankly, it is easy.
