I don't know what's magical about them, but they work like magic. I apply the disc before bed and depending on the severity, the pimple either goes away completely or is significantly reduced. On rare occasions I have to apply two days in a row, this disappeared after the second night. In my experience, a pimple needs to have a head or opening to work, and doesn't work on cystic acne that doesn't have a head. They are amazing and I recommend them to everyone.
