This rug is a great solution compared to no toilet rug. It picks up the litter my cats pick up quite well, resulting in significantly less litter on the bathroom floor and in the hallway. (I have a small bathroom and no room for a covered tray.) However, cleaning the carpet is not that easy. I haven't found a way to get the trash off the carpet without making a huge mess. First I try to vacuum as much of the mat as possible (using a suction hose without a nozzle, push it against the top of the mat) and then I throw the rest of what's in the mat onto the floor and vacuum there. That way I have some control over where the trash goes and I can remove it immediately (unlike a cat that follows it everywhere). Emptying the bowl according to the directions on the box will only result in trash flying all over the place; When you lift the mat, the filling comes out through the holes on the top and also through the hole on the side.
