Dull sound. Low volume. Soft results.

Bought for use with an 80's TT I just got. When I first connected to my Marantz amp I found the sound quality to be a bit dull and I had a pretty poor response. But since this was my first time using this TT, I figured it was just a poor quality device. But to be on the safe side, I switched to my 1990s Sony shelf system with TT and built-in phono stage. I set up this system to use the headphone jack to match my Klipsch ProMedia2.1 system (the TT is only powered by the main deck receiver so I looked for a different TT). I unplugged the Sony TT and plugged it in instead. Wow, phenomenal difference. Good, clear sound, high and low frequencies. But to make sure it wasn't just different speakers, I included this Pyle preamp in my Klipsch setup. And by comparison, it sounded like the speakers were underwater. I can't believe there is such a big difference in sound between two settings with just one change. So today I'm going to return this "bunch" of junk. Not a good investment at all. If you don't care about the sound, then why should you listen to the record? Now I'm looking for a replacement. I strongly advise against purchasing this preamp if there is any hope of enjoying the classic sound of a vinyl record. Very disappointed.
