Description of Pyle Phono Turntable Preamp - Compact Audio Phonograph Preamplifier with RCA Input, RCA Output & Low Noise Operation, Powered by 12V DC Adapter - PP999, Black

CONVERTS PHONO SIGNALS: A turntable preamp that converts phono signals to Line Level Signals. This state-of-the-art circuitry phono preamp can accommodate magnetic pickups with an input sensitivity of 3mV at 50K Ohms. LOW NOISE OPERATION: Offers outstanding performance with it’s Low-Noise Audio Operational Amplifiers. The output is 2V max (P-P) at 10K Ohms. It’s better to position the preamp close to the source to reduce unwanted noise and interference. CONNECTS TO TURNTABLES: Connect any turntable to modern sound equipment without specialized phono input for amplifying music. For the receiver, this can be connected to speakers, computers, laptops and more. SIMPLE PLUG & PLAY: This mini preamp has stereo RCA inputs and stereo RCA outputs. Connect the turntable to the RCA inputs and ground. Then, connect the amplifier receiver to the RCA outputs.

Pyle P999 has low performance - low volume

This complaint has been reported here at least once. See 3-star review by Flem Snopes on July 26, 2018 under the heading "Good price but poor sound quality". I had the same problem as Flem Snopes. The volume of this preamp is too low compared to other sound sources on my AVR stereo. My guess is that the volume of this preamp is about 40% lower than the other "normal" inputs. I have to turn the volume up too high (and clip my AVR) while listening to vinyl. My cartridge's specs are (close…

Dull sound. Low volume. Soft results.

Bought for use with an 80's TT I just got. When I first connected to my Marantz amp I found the sound quality to be a bit dull and I had a pretty poor response. But since this was my first time using this TT, I figured it was just a poor quality device. But to be on the safe side, I switched to my 1990s Sony shelf system with TT and built-in phono stage. I set up this system to use the headphone jack to match my Klipsch ProMedia2.1 system (the TT is only powered by the main deck receiver so I…

Pretty solid preamp

Having just bought a new Orbit with no preamp I needed one to get started, I'm not an audiophile at all although I do enjoy listening to vinyl. I'm currently using Edifier speakers so I don't currently have a receiver setup and apart from player quality there's nothing hi-fi here. When everything is set up, I don't notice any audio issues, although I might not even know what to look for. From what I've read in other reviews there's a lot of hum or other grounding issues, very little noise…

Pros
  • Great performance overall

  • Definitely a bad product

Avoid at all costs. for home cinema

I never really wanted to give such a negative review, but with this phono stage I don't think I have a choice. I've read that an external phono stage usually improves sound quality. HIFI stereo sound quality. Under normal circumstances this is true as the built in preamps that come with entry level turntables and amp/receivers are usually of minimal quality. So, I got this phono stage from my grandson. I bought it for him a few years ago but it turns out he didn't need it. He told me that he…

Kept my stereo in my home theater

I bought this to hook up an old Sony TT direct drive to a cheap bookshelf in our bedroom. My friend wanted to ditch the big component system to save space, but after looking at suitcase players and seeing how unreliable they seem to be, I didn't want to downgrade *that much*. I've also been hesitant to invest too much in connecting to our bookcase system as it probably won't last long for this world either. I took a chance on this little preamp because the reviews were good and the price…

If your turntable doesn't have a built in preamp (which many older turntables don't) you will need one unless your receiver has a phonograph input (which many newer turntables don't have). not have). t). You can spend thousands of dollars on a phono stage, but it doesn't have to be. This is for audiophiles who are the odd and controversial crowd. Unless you've spent thousands of dollars on a receiver and speakers, you probably won't notice much of a difference between them and something less…

Pros
  • Rugged construction

  • No automatic

I am writing this review on the same day that I am retiring my Pyle PP999 phono preamp. Only now did I realize what a gem this little guy really is. First, let's get the obvious out of the way - this is entry-level when it comes to phono preamps. You don't look at that when you approach an audiophile. But for the aspiring (or awakening) vinyl enthusiast of modest means who needs a phono stage, the Pyle PP999 will serve you well if you feel like going further with vinyl. I would say this is the…
