Pyle P999 has low performance - low volume

This complaint has been reported here at least once. See 3-star review by Flem Snopes on July 26, 2018 under the heading "Good price but poor sound quality". I had the same problem as Flem Snopes. The volume of this preamp is too low compared to other sound sources on my AVR stereo. My guess is that the volume of this preamp is about 40% lower than the other "normal" inputs. I have to turn the volume up too high (and clip my AVR) while listening to vinyl. My cartridge's specs are (close enough?) within the specs of this preamp (3mV @ 50kΩ input sensitivity): My cartridge is a Signet TK7E @ 2.7mV @ 47kΩ driving a Denon DP30L turntable. Because of the bad volume, I have much less motivation to play records. I think I'll look for a phono stage replacement. maybe with variable output, volume control? I left this preamp unplugged and only discovered this issue after the 30 day return policy expired. Or I believe there is a 30 day return policy? Ah, my fault. Something else. The ground stud screw is very fragile. Please use less force than when manually tightening the CT ground wire on the preamplifier.
