The photos I printed from this machine are of very good quality. I used premium Canon Platinum paper and printer software. It includes some useful photo enhancement features that have come in handy. People were surprised that I used a consumer printer to print close-up pictures of plows and such, as the overall print quality is very good. I used up my printer cartridges pretty quickly. About 25 8x10 photos and a few 4x6 photos are what I got from the photos that came with the printer. Cartridges were $40-$50 a pair at a local store which I decided to go to. I was about to ship to a friend in Japan and decided to get it done the same day! The price per print is a bit higher than what I can get on photoworks.com when they have a special sale when paper is included and shipping is subject to. I think it fills a good niche in my world for the kind of fast printing I need to write here and there and as a good all round printer. I wouldn't want to pay for cartridges to use it for serious photo production.
