This device is a good example of great functionality but the user interface could be better. I'll talk about the general synopsis and the different modes. Let's start with the good: - Unit is small, metal, well made - Remote is easy to use - Great for watching multiple videos or a single video source and desktop source - Very low lag - No frame loss as far as I know (video streaming) - Switching is almost instantaneous - Multiple modes/layouts - The remote covers all the features and some extras like performance and resolution - The price is good for what you get - the power indicator is solid and very bright - the physical buttons are oddly labeled. "Audio" does what it says on the tin - toggles audio sources - but also has a hidden feature that if you press and hold it toggles the original text on or off. "Main" reverses the original order for modes that support it - the label is meaningless. "Mode" changes the layout - not very clear, but better than "main". - The monitor will sleep only when you turn off the switch. - You can only turn it off with the remote control. There is no automatic shutdown. - On-screen source labels are either on or off (by long pressing the volume button). I want it to briefly show you the source or have a highlight on the device. The remote control provides direct audio source control, but no direct video source control. You must press and hold the mode button on the remote control or device to switch between video sources. Go to Modes/Layouts. Speaking of text, I just did a Google search on Chrome. full screen mode. The resolution is excellent. Nothing more to say. Works the way you think. 2x2 mode All four sources are scaled. Positions are fixed. The text is unreadable but good for monitoring changes or multiple videos. You can read it if you zoom to 175% or more. Side center mode. This gives you 2 large format views in the middle and 2 very stretched views on the sides. The side views are pretty much useless, but the middle views are good as they are the largest that can show 2 sources without stretching. The text is difficult to read. The positions are fixed, so only inputs 2 and 3 can be in the middle. 1x2 mode Two inputs side by side. You can display inputs 1+2 or 3+4, no other combinations. The text is easier to read, but you still need to enlarge it to 150-200% to work with it. Both are stretched vertically. 1+3x1 mode 1 large square screen and 3 scaled small screens. This is my favorite as the large screen, although slightly stretched vertically, is usable. Zoom up to 150% and it's very clear. The other three are good for video or surveillance purposes. You can switch any source to the big screen. Rotates by: 1234, 2341, 3412, etc.
