This is a premium quality neck speaker that rivals Bose Soundwear. Monster sounds very good for a neck speaker. If you're looking for a neck speaker, there's no point spending that much on a Bose. The Monster Boomerang features a fabric upper with a soft silicone base. It's convenient and flexible. More flexible than Bose, not that Bose is bad. The Monster is IPX7 waterproof, which means it can be submerged to 1 meter for up to 30 minutes. More than enough for workouts and heavy sweaters. Bose doesn't have a waterproof rating, but it's advertised as sweat and weatherproof, which doesn't mean anything. Bose has an interchangeable lid, Monster doesn't. The charging port on the Monster is USB-C, which was a pleasant surprise. Some of the Bose's advantages are that it can vibrate. The monster does not vibrate (except for bass hits). The Bose group has some cool audio/air tech and the Monster only has four speakers, but who really cares how the sound is rendered as long as it sounds good (and both are very similar). Bose has an app which means more customization options, and you can get firmware updates to improve the product. This could be a good reason to choose Bose. However, the neck speaker market is not in demand, so I wouldn't be surprised if both died out. The sound quality between Bose and Monster is very comparable. I find the Monster gets a bit louder and has a bit more bass, but its bass is enough to make it vibrate with a slight tickle. The mids and highs sound very comparable and quite decent for a neck speaker, but I've heard mini speakers sound slightly better. Head movements change the sound in both speakers. Ultimately, sound is very subjective, so take it with a grain of salt. But it's pretty good and nothing to complain about if you realize you're not getting a B&O or Sennheiser soundstage. Audio isn't private as everyone can hear what you're hearing through both speakers. Sound Quality: Tie Volume: MonsterComfort: Monster (seems lighter) Waterproof: MonsterBattery: Tie (specs advertised, so I didn't really test them) App Features: Bose (no app for Monster) Firmware Upgrade: Bose Product Design Acces: Bose I really don't see why anyone would buy a $300 or $200 refurbished Bose when it's so close and actually better in so many important categories. I think the market is weak for this type of speaker and I expect them to die out, but I like them.
