Review on πŸ”§ Educational Insights Design Drill Play Marble Set by Jay Chowdhury

Teaches problem solving, spatial interaction and creativity. Sizes below

This is an interesting toy from Educational Insights. Children have to build their own marble maze by attaching tracks of different lengths to a board with pins using a children's drill. Then they can test their creations with the marble. I saw something like this at the science museum and the kids love it. It's fun to watch the cause and effect relationships and how the ball moves across the lanes. Drilling is fun, too, because – well, power tools. It moves back and forth like a real drill. The drill is 4.5 inches long, 4.5 inches high and 2.25 inches wide. The board is strong enough when attached to the legs or it can be wall mounted (plastic hanging bracket included). The board itself is 9.75 inches tall, 11.25 inches tall. "wide, 1 inch thick". The red legs are 2.5 inches high and just under 8 inches long. There is only 1 ball and it is plastic. It works, but it's a little lame. The cards have tasks showing which shapes to use and a "goal" shape with a tick at the bottom. The back of the cards shows the possible solutions for the ball to reach the goal. The cards are large and laminated but could be stronger. Please note that some parts are not in the colors shown on the packaging/instructions. For example, the wall mount in the photo is red while mine is blue. The star shape was drawn in red, but I got green. Nothing special except that at first I thought I was missing details. But everything is there. It is adapted for children from 5 years old, which I think is appropriate. It would be nice if there were more boards and more track pieces that could be attached to make the board taller. The instructions mention joining 4 boards together to make the board bigger, but I couldn't find that on Revain. Maybe he'll come out later.
