I'm 74 years old and I walk 10-12 kilometers five or six days a week, mostly on fairly easy trails and roads. Before ordering these shoes I was wearing the Merrill Moab 2. I still wear the Merrill for hiking, but the Adidas Terrex Free Hiker is by far the most comfortable hiking shoe I've ever worn. You really are fantastic. They are worn like a sock (no tongue, the upper part of the shoe is soft and hugs the ankle snugly). I wear semi orthotic insoles due to a metastatic issue and was able to put them on without removing the insole that came with the shoe. The only complaint I have is that the toe protection is not as good as on the Merrill. To compensate, I switched to Carhart Steel Toe socks, which offer more cushioning in the toes than the socks I wear with Merrill's. Great shoes - I can only recommend them.
