Review on πŸ“Έ NEEWER CN-160 Dimmable Ultra High Power LED Panel Video Light for Canon, Nikon, Pentax, Panasonic, SONY, Samsung, and Olympus Digital SLR Cameras by David Jones

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Fast output, bright light and lots of control

Set up quickly! I have used professional equipment and I have used this. I have to say I was really impressed by what I was able to achieve with these lights in such a short amount of time. They are light, easy to move (on stands) and easy to handle. The first shot was taken on a night shot for which we had no ambient light. I installed a 300w softbox on the back and lit it up with basically 4-5 of these LEDs. Dimmers are essential as sometimes you just need to highlight a small texture in the background but not everything. The second still shows the light working as an edge/back light. I also added a second light from the ambulance and this is where the dimmer comes in handy. His keys were two 300-watt soft boxes. (I'm not saying this is an amazing lighting setup, but I just wanted to show how they can work in a professional setting - they're so quick and easy.) The 3rd and 4th images highlight a cool effect that I love only recently started making, meaning these lights are directed straight into the camera behind the scenes to create a flare when you're shooting a fairly static and inactive B-roll. That would be agony with a heavy tungsten lamp, but because the lamps are so light, portable and dimmable, it takes a few minutes to get a really cool effect. If I had to do it all over again, I'd beat the F970 for a little more peace of mind. I have about six F550s that last about an hour, but if you're serious about shooting and trying to move fast you'll have to postpone the interview because you have to change the battery in your headlights - that's pretty bad. Overall excellent when used correctly. I always have three in my light gear.
