Excellent light for camera video lights

This light produces good bright light and comes with a diffuser and 3200k filter. It arrived a day than expected. It is also possible to use other batteries such as Sony FM, Sony FM, Sony FH, Sony F series and Panasonic SD series instead of just using standard AA batteries. The only downside is that it's delicately built. But overall I would recommend this light to any photographer or videographer.

Pros
  • Excellent overall performance
Cons
  • No paint required

Ideal for night shots!

I bought this for night shooting after a friend recommended it. There is a handle on the side to gradually turn on the light. For late-night couple portraits, I turn it on at half power with a diffuser attached. It also works great without the diffuser plate for detailed reception shots and ring shots. The only reason I gave this four stars is because it doesn't come with a battery or charger. I think for $30 it should contain these items.

The new ones have a greenish tint

Hmm, have you noticed their new ones have a greenish tint? The best is the one I bought 3-4 years ago. I needed 2 more but my new ones came with the wrong temp. Even with the orange plastic part on both, the greener light still shines through. I'm pretty sure it's the same product because I just clicked the buy button again. There is no choice of color temperature in the description. i will return it I wonder if I'll buy it again while they're still green.

  • Expensive but decent

Good for the price - lighting and studio

Works very well. I've been looking for a hot shoe lamp that wasn't a flash for a while and decided to pull the trigger for school beauty photos. The light comes out very bright and it's a very nice uncapped white, my only three not so good things are: 1) When I use the light at an angle on a tripod, the neck isn't strong enough and sometimes the light will fold in on itself . 2) If the light is on for a while, I feel like it gets dimmer so your light range gets smaller. 3) It runs on batteries…

DO NOT LEAVE BATTERIES IN!

I bought two of these. I used 6 rechargeable AA batteries in one and 6 brand new Duracell AA batteries in the other. They worked great but when I used them again 3 weeks later BOTH were dead. When I took the batteries out and checked they were all below 0.3 volts and 4 of the 6 Duracell batteries were leaking acid! If I only had one unit I would say the unit is bad. Based on the fact that this happened on 2 different devices and I used 2 different battery types on each, it is clear that the…

Amazing light for $$

Check out this video review of the CN-160. I highly recommend using this light. It was a life saver at a low light wedding. I mainly shoot videos so this light is great for $$. This light is so bright that I've even used it as a fill light in various lighting situations. Update: After using the lamp for a while, I'm still a big fan of this price. However, I have to mention a few downsides (all of which are minor in my opinion). The tungsten filter is too orange for my taste. So if you're…

Very bright but mostly $40 since you have to buy a battery

Love how bright it is. I mainly use it for videos and studies (pictured), and a light illuminates most of the basement of this abandoned factory. My family often rents it out to use instead of a flashlight, for chores, or for night security. Everyone is amazed at how bright it is. However, putting in 8 AA batteries will not work in the long run. Since this light constantly consumes battery power even when it is off, it will be dead within a few days if you don't remove the batteries. In my…

Like thousands of other YouTube video makers

yes it is very bright! Like thousands of other YouTube video producers, I was looking for an initial lighting solution for my studio shoots. I've seen the popularity of Neewer LED lights and the CN-160 got particularly positive reviews, so I chose the Neewer CN AC/DC converter to avoid buying dozens of batteries. The Neewer light and battery combination was a good choice. Together you get consistent, high-quality, high-performance lighting. I paid $32 for LED and $16 for battery power. I felt…

Fast output, bright light and lots of control

Set up quickly! I have used professional equipment and I have used this. I have to say I was really impressed by what I was able to achieve with these lights in such a short amount of time. They are light, easy to move (on stands) and easy to handle. The first shot was taken on a night shot for which we had no ambient light. I installed a 300w softbox on the back and lit it up with basically 4-5 of these LEDs. Dimmers are essential as sometimes you just need to highlight a small texture in the…
