The red light was on all the time after installation. I thought the university was defective. I called Moen and within 2 weeks the company sent me a new unit. But the same problem exists with the new device. It took me a while to try again. I switched the battery from lithium to alkaline and everything worked right away. In the process, I also figured out how to properly set the detection distance to activate the water flow.1. Disconnect all power connections, and then reconnect power to the power distribution box.2. Please note that the front sensor will blink twice.3. The second blink is for setting the detection distance. Before it flashes, move your hand the desired distance from the sensor. After the flashing is finished, everything is ready.4. Here it is! I didn't bother trying to figure out what the first blink was for. You may have to rehearse several times. But no worry. it's really straight forward. Also thanks to Moen customer service. I mainly use Moen kitchen and bathroom products because of their quality and no-hassle guarantees.
