I have this remote as a second remote in my living room. My TV model was 40EX523. The remote worked perfectly without any settings. However, on the main "dial", the left and right buttons must be pressed firmly for the remote to "send" a signal. (You can tell if it's sending a signal by the flashing light in the top corner of the remote, which my original remote didn't.) If it's sending a signal, the TV picks it up perfectly. As far as I can tell the other buttons work fine and are of acceptable quality and if it wasn't for those buttons on the dial it would be an easy 5 stars. However, I expect ALL the buttons on the remote to work properly once set up, and this remote did not. In the end it will probably work with most Sony TVs this year, but the quality of the remote control itself leaves a lot to be desired. not as good as the original.
