The shelf is very easy and hassle free to assemble. And it works for my shoes - size 9. The cross bars interfere in several places in the B-pillars. My common problem that I find these days is that many shoes are flat or don't have a stepped heel that usually hooks into the back bar and prevents the shoe from sliding forward. In my opinion, nowadays all shoe racks are way too steep and some shoes keep slipping off the shelf. They could solve this by texturing the bars so they aren't shiny and slippery, but until they fixed this I had to buy a roll of non-slip tape (usually used in bathtubs to prevent slipping) and tape it on glue the front. rod of each rack and that seems to solve the problem. The tape is fairly thick and will stick to a horizontal surface but trying to wrap the edges around the rack cylinder isn't great, but as long as it stays in place it works great.
