Installation is pretty easy but I got it wrong so here are some tips. The red wire is connected to the capacitor on the common side. The capacitor should be marked "Cโ at this point for easy connection. The striped wire is connected to the condenser on the compressor side. The condenser should be labeled "Herm" which means compressor, so another easy connection. The condenser will most likely have a different connector labeled "Fan". Don't do anything with this connection. The last black wire, and here's some useful information. It needs to be connected to the T1 side, which can be confusing, so let me explain. The wire from the house goes through the tube and then into the block. They are connected to a contactor. Where they come together is the side of the line. Look closely and you can see a small L1 for one wire and L2 for the other wire. This is not the page you want. The other side of the contactor is the terminal side and the markings are T1 and T2. Which one do you choose now? Initially I connected to the same side of the contactor that the capacitor was connected to. I followed the red wire and connected to it. Stupid me, I read the manual and it says there is most likely a black wire on the T1 side. is there a difference Yes. Look at my samples and you will see that the initial starting current was 49 amps. The next photo had a wire connected to T2 (wrong terminal) and I got 34 amps. Later I thought about it and realized my mistake so I checked again and made sure it was wrong so I switched to the T1 side and my current dropped to 28. Not much but 6 amp difference. Why do you ask? Simply put, the T1 side is energized all the time while the T2 side is only energized when the contactor is on. Also, the T2 side is the same phase as the cover while T1 is a different phase that allows current from both lines. The overall reduction from 49 to 28 amps at start represents a 43 per cent reduction in the power required to start, which extends compressor life. I hope this helps you connect. I will update if there are any issues or changes.
