Review on 🚨 Enhance Your Uniden Radar Detector with the Uniden RDA-HDWKT Smart Hardwire Kit: Mute Button, LED Alert, and Power LED for Uniden Models R7, R3, R1, DFR9, DFR8, DFR7, and DFR6 by Hayden Hart

Currently the best available hardware connection option for your Uniden R3.

This allowed me to plug in the Uniden and access the mute button somewhere other than the radar or cigarette lighter. What I didn't like was the quality of the included wire taps. There are better ones that are still much cheaper. The ground wire wasn't even considered a tap (you're expected to mount it with a screw on the end piece). To solve the ground wire problem and keep it clean, the wires I was connected to I found the ground wire and used my own coupler. Finally, I wish the phone/power cord was a little longer. I was lucky enough to get it working with about 6 inches left; However, I chose not to wire the map dome/lights which are usually located just above the rearview mirror. since I would have to splice longer power and ground wires to place the mute button in the location I chose. I connected the wires under the dash and routed the phone's power cord behind everything (use zip ties to keep it clean and secure it to the factory wiring) and then the wire along the 'A-cut' and then right after inside led ends directly at the rearview mirrors where my Uniden is installed. Whatever the case, it's still a very viable solution to hardwiring in your Uniden. No more unplugging the power cord to open the power source to charge other electronic devices. It looks clean with no wires hanging from the windshield in front of the radio/air vents etc. This is the best option Uniden currently has to offer for hardwiring your detector. The price is quite comparable to what you get in the kit. We would recommend it to anyone looking to plug in their detector and ditch the coiled factory plug.
