I've had three smartphone mounts over the past few years and this is by far the best. does not move when I remove the phone from the base. The base is mounted on a ball joint, which works very well. The magnet you attach to your phone is very strong. My Pixel 2XL, a fairly large phone, stays in place without slipping off the base despite having a magnet attached to my phone *in* my rather heavy case. I doubt the magnet's glue will stick well to the shiny acrylic on the outside of my case, so I was delighted to find that the magnet worked well through the case. The kit includes two sizes of metal plates that hold the phone magnetically. The large rectangular plate is larger than the base, so you don't have to worry about aligning the magnet on the base when you place your phone on the mount. There is plenty of extra space for magnets. I am very happy with this purchase and hope the plastic linkage, clamp and tensioners will last long enough. I will be buying four more to give away. Update: During a very long drive, car vibrations caused the phone to rotate a bit, but I still think this is the best phone mount. I'm pretty sure this wouldn't happen if the metal plate was on the outside of the case, as my case has a shiny finish where it touches the base of the magnet.
