Considering there are 3 characters in this sad story. Nuna, Adapter and City Mini Zip, it's hard to blame each of them individually and it's also hard to pinpoint exactly what's wrong in their relationship, but in short it's NOT a good combination. . You must remove the top for the car seat to fit properly. If your child weighs over 14 pounds, it is not possible to remove the car seat from the adapter without some sort of leverage. I used to push the stroller against my car, against the wall, against a volunteer, but I couldn't just push the button and raise the seat without the stroller moving towards it. This is a very tight fit. I'd say it's a matter of millimeter play in attaching and detaching the seat from the adapters. Adapters stick out very far, so when you fold the stroller, while you can technically fold them when attached, they add a good 4 to 5 inches to the length of the zippered stroller when folded. They stick out so you accidentally stick them in the pavement and snap them or someone else. As previously mentioned, there is very little room for error when removing the seat. The same goes for attaching the seat to adapters. Once my child was over 14-15 pounds I was no longer able to install the seat on adapters when they were on the seat.
