Review on πŸ“‘ Uniden DFR9: Super Long Range Laser and Radar Detection with GPS for Red Light and Speed Camera Alerts – Enhanced OLED Display by John Clark

Revainrating 5 out of 5

A state-of-the-art device that offers superior value.

I've had dozens of detectors over the years. When it came time to upgrade, I studied the market very closely. Uniden does a great job compared to the competition and delivers great performance at good prices. I chose the DFR9 because it's the company's newest model. Features are top notch, just the right amount, no silly gimmicks. I put one on my car and the other on my bike, then a speed marker near me gave the perfect situation to test. I did a few laps with both cars and on the driveway the sensors reliably chirped before they even hit the mark. Moving away from the device, the detectors chirped again, performing well from behind with slightly less range than when moving forward. You'll get a few false positives, but this detector's editing features can clean them up nicely. The silent ride feature is great for preventing false alarms in shopping malls. I set the speed to 15 mph and the detector always showed the presence of the radar but was silent showing the quiet drive feature. I'm tempted to set this speed a little higher, but I live close to several school zones so I definitely need to be fully vigilant when 20 mph speed limits are in effect. If you get a false alarm in other areas, double-clicking the mute button will mark that location and you'll stop hearing annoying chatter. Let's be honest, every radar detector has two important main functions and everything else is a distant side issue. Firstly, you will get a lot of notifications when real speed control radar is used. Second, the elimination of false alarms, which are increasingly common in today's world and are controlled by radio waves. Overall, the DFR9 does a great job and is incredible value for its low price.
