I have always hesitated to dye ties because I thought it would cause a lot of trouble and chaos. I've heard about items that need to be washed in soda first and I just didn't want to go through all that trouble. However, this set makes everything easier! Items you will die do not need pre-processing. All you have to do is mix the powder in each water bottle, shake, roll or twist the item according to the included instructions using the included rubber bands, put on the included plastic gloves, and use the bottles to match the color accurately and easy to apply. After that, wrap them in plastic and let them sit for a few hours (I leave them overnight) and then rinse them until clear. In fact, I put all my clothes in the wash cycle and rinse them with white vinegar to set the color, then dry them in a hot dryer to heat them up. Although the kit says you can dye up to thirty items, it all depends on the size of the items and the saturation of the dye. My five colored bottles colored a large canvas bag and four extra t-shirts, and I used a lot of paint. There is a replacement pack for each of the five colors and I'm already looking forward to my next tie-dye project. I think my 10 year old granddaughter would love to make this!
