Review on πŸ“· Black Rokinon FE14M-C 14mm F2.8 Ultra Wide Lens for Canon by Lisa Stubbs

Revainrating 5 out of 5

This is a simple lens that delivers crisp images and produces stunning images. For everything within a few meters

Most people, myself included, misunderstand this lens at first. Those of us who are used to using autofocus will look into the viewfinder and find it difficult to locate focus and complain that focusing is an issue. However, this is not the case. Once you've (optionally) calibrated the infinity focus to the L mark to the left of the infinity mark, you can literally set the focus to anywhere between 3 feet and between 10 feet and infinity, and anything from 2 feet to 5 feet to infinity will come in be focus. I do not focus this lens. One day I found out about hyperfocal distances etc. I just set mine to 10ft, f5.6 for landscapes (the sharpest setting for this lens) and went around shooting. This is a simple lens that is razor sharp and produces stunning images. For anything within a few feet, I use live view and zoom to compose the shot, or use the confirmation chip for auto exposure. If you don't understand these things, as I once didn't, the lens will frustrate you at first. Having an AE confirmation chip doesn't really do you any good as it glows from 3ft to infinity most of the time, but the ability to adjust the iris electronically is why I bought this version. the lens is now glued to my camera for anything to do with tight spaces, interiors, woods, etc.

Cons
