The sound is really balanced and very clear, especially with the special foam tips provided. The kit also includes a set of regular ear tips of different sizes. This pair of woods takes time to warm up, making them unique with warmer properties. You can certainly use them to assess amplifier white noise, crosstalk and shielding issues because you can hear it all! I don't use it every day, can't comment on the durability of the cords and plugs, but time will tell. The overall quality is excellent but be aware that this is a budget hi-fi and deserves 5 stars for that. Expect to pay 3-4x more for similar/better sounding headsets that will likely last longer, but if you care it's a really great deal.
