I have an old bottle (circa 2002) that I really like, but the straw was long and completely rimmed so when I poured the smoothie in there was some sediment left in it. which eventually turned into mold in the middle of the straw. I thought about buying replacement straws but they were sold in packs of five and cost double what I paid for these straw cleaners. I figured I could always use these straws to clean other sports bottles and more and saved myself $5. The long straw cleaner worked like clockwork and easily removed the old residue for months.
