Despite my doubts succeeded
Why are you told this thing isn't for painted walls? This is because the 3M adhesive on the back is not meant to be removed. If you try to remove it you will destroy your wall. I installed mine on a painted wall using the command bars. I did NOT remove the strip on the back to reveal the 3M adhesive. The towel warmer holds up well. If he ever lets go I will come back and update this review. Feel free to buy it for a painted wall but remember you will have to spend a little more to get the right glue. Also, be careful not to install it upside down. Yes this is important.
