Review on TYT MD-UV380: Ultimate Dual Band VHF UHF DMR Handheld Walkie Talkie by Scott Goff

This product has a range of good to excellent qualities. Unfortunately, not all of them work at the same time. The radio has decent, NOT GREAT, but decent sound quality. The included software is buggy to say the least. The included programming software is TERRIBLE. The manufacturer has not yet learned or decided to ignore quality control. Since it's pretty much a software defined radio. this is very bad. This bad thing could be fixed if they take some time to listen to their users and fix what is not working properly. It has a lot of 'potential', but at the time of writing it's not ready for Prime TIME. The CSZ database is one of the largest. You just can't use it if you want to stream at the same time. Disable the user database and the radio will broadcast properly. The charger is a real problem and from what I've learned it can keep charging the battery. PS It takes forever to charge the battery. The menu system was apparently designed and developed in a foreign language and then translated into English. The arrangement and allocation of things is not particularly logical. If you are a picky radio amateur. You might want to give this fruit a little more time on the vine.
