I can't tell you how much it means to have good customer service.

I bought 2 of these (have owned an MD-380 for a few years) and they are MD-UV380 dual band radios. mine came with software, two antennas and belt clips - one of which had no opening and could not be used. I emailed TYT and got no response but then emailed Let's Get Ready and they said they apologize for the inconvenience and one is on the way. I can't tell you how much it means to have good customer service. And yes, they are just as good if not better than my UHF MD-380.

Pros
  • GOLS certified
Cons
  • Clarity

The TYT radio I received had a manufacturing defect so I sent it back. In my humble opinion, the materials and build quality were less than outstanding. That being said, with no manufacturing defects, it can be considered very good value. The radio is incredibly cheap considering its features, and electronically it seems to perform well. If you are interested in a cheap entry-level radio, you should definitely try this one. If you're looking for something more sophisticated, there are brands…

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel
Cons

A solid performance from a quality dealer!

I only have 2 original models MD-380 UHF and needed UV radio as we just installed a VHF DMR repeater. The MD380UV was the perfect choice for me, the charger and batteries are the same for both models which makes it convenient. I've been using the MD380UV for 2 weeks now and absolutely love this radio. Having 64 channels per zone is a huge plus for radio amateurs and it sounds fantastic on both TX and RX, better than a single band model. It came with the latest firmware and the ability to…

Very good radio. IF.

You can find someone to program it for you which I did. That's it. Yes, as some have pointed out, just because this radio is part of the computer, the battery is quite small and can drain quickly. I had to get a DMR radio for work at a local ham radio club this summer and I am happy with this radio. I just wish you could get a 2200mah+ battery. I bought two of these and keep them both on hand when I'm working on an event. As for the sound quality. I am using an external microphone with a…

Not ready for prime time

This product has a range of good to excellent qualities. Unfortunately, not all of them work at the same time. The radio has decent, NOT GREAT, but decent sound quality. The included software is buggy to say the least. The included programming software is TERRIBLE. The manufacturer has not yet learned or decided to ignore quality control. Since it's pretty much a software defined radio. this is very bad. This bad thing could be fixed if they take some time to listen to their users and fix what…

Great little DMR radio

Initially I only used it for DMR use. Haven't used this for regular analog VHF/UHF yet. As with all DMR radios, setup and programming is very different from analog VHF/UHF radios, I got a code plug from local repeater owners and made a few tweaks to it, but basically it just worked the way they did it . I haven't spent time changing the code plugin to use analog repeaters yet. I need to do this, but I have a few other good HTs for it, so I don't have much of a need for it right now. The quality

Useless if I can't program/Revised

Received the radio this afternoon. Good delivery time and I was happy to possibly get it online. I spent the next 6 hours getting the programming cable and radio up and running on Windows 7 using the software that came with it. There is no information on the internet about this. I connected the programming cable to the radio, plugged it into the USB port and turned on the radio. The computer beeps as if recognizing a USB device. Went into device manager to find the device and it shows in a…

A good entry-level radio station with a few features.

I have an FM version of this radio and have had it for several years now. It's not my favorite radio but it does the job and is excellent value for money. I recently had to purchase a dual band DMR/Analog radio and have looked at several models. Neither of them did as well, but I went with this one because it uses the same body, battery, and accessories as the older UHF-only model. Outwardly, however, they are physically identical. The new version of UV has some really cool new features. It has
