Add some style to your game night

I've become a big fan of metal dice in recent months, and I'm going to start by just saying that this is one of the nicer sets I've reviewed. One of the first things that my wife pointed out when we opened them is that they have a different font than most dice. It feels a bit more industrial, no-frills than most, which is perfect for the steampunk aesthetic that they're going for.The numbers are raised in an elegant way, and are clearly readable through the decorative flourishes. The gears are noticeable without getting in the way, and there are even tiny little fake screw heads to give the impression that these were handcrafted. They have a satisfying heft and roll nicely. The only issue I have with them is that a few of the gold accents seem faded in a way that doesn't seem intentional. It's especially noticeable on the 4-sider. It makes me worry about how well the paint will stand up to repeated handling, but I'm not going to take stars away for it unless that actually happens.

Pros
  • Dragon Scale Metal Dice
Cons
  • The orange blue-golden number combination may not be visually appealing to some players
