The remaining filter life is 0% right out of the box!

Firstly I'm not sure if this is a genuine Silver Onyx filter. The box is very unassuming, it just has a silver onyx sticker. Honestly, anyone could say it. Then when I installed it, "Filter Life Remaining" shows 0% and the blue light flashes. That's not a good sign at all. Here's what happened when I bought and returned a compatible filter from another brand for less than half the price I assumed it would be better to buy "Silver Onyx" but it isn't. This is a return.
