This is a great tool. While this tool seems to be used primarily by racers checking springs on the track, I wanted the tool to check the actual pressure of my valve seat during an engine overhaul. After trusting the "experts" and main shop to select and adjust the spring, only to have the cam fail after 20 minutes during a trial break, I ordered this tool to test the replacement springs I had ordered prior to assembly. The desired seat pressure for my application was 112 pounds. (old school solid flat pusher). The springs I ordered were £135. at standard height and 111 lbs. with a goalkeeper +0.060. Measured 110 - 112 after installation. Ideal and quiet for the replacement. In the picture you can see the shims in the tester to center the print wheel exactly on the roll pin. Test of previous springs that should be set at 155 lbs. showed an actual seat pressure of nearly 170 pounds. That would give about 400 over the nose, and it's clear why the cams/lifters didn't do justice to the dip. While it may seem like a religious argument that a stand tester is required for setup, this is a hobby for me and I will not be in business. I wanted to get up to date data on the springs installed on the heads and this tool is perfect for my needs.
