Description of πŸ”ͺ Efficiently Cut Exhaust and Tailpipes with GEARWRENCH 2031DD Cutter

"Cut pipes 3/4" to 3" and 19mm to 76mm in diameter". Fifteen blades effectively cut pipe so only a 100 degree rotation is needed for a complete cut. Serviceable tool works in hard-to-reach areas. Will not cut double-wall pipes. Keep well oiled. Not for use on stainless steel.

Didn't work on steel pipes.

Might cut the exhaust pipe but will barely scratch the surface of a 2.5" diameter 1/8" thick steel pipe after 15 minutes with coolant. Then I used a hacksaw - sawed through in 15 minutes. Then I used the saw for another cut - much easier, it took about 5 minutes.

Pros
  • Comfortable
Cons
  • Not sure

Not very effective on exhaust tools

Will cut a THIN exhaust pipe. There are no thicker exhaust pipes! Cutting through requires a lot of strength. A saber saw is definitely easier and about the same price. I had to send it back as it couldn't cope with the Kia's overpriced full tailpipe. The saber saw went through like clockwork.

Pros
  • Lots of positive emotions
Cons
  • I vaguely remember

Essential exhaust cutting tool

Very good exhaust cutting tool: quiet, fast, even in the tightest of spaces. This is my first time using it and I absolutely love it. With this tool and a digital caliper, an Adoric 0-6 caliper measuring tool, and a few bypass piles of auto parts, I was able to fix some rotten parts of the exhaust pipe to pass the $400 Toyota dealer inspection. . highlighted.

Can cut BMW 409SS into tools & equipment

You will need oil (motor oil or similar) to lubricate and cool the rollers. Carefully cutting out the exhaust will take time and patience, but it can be done. I cut two pieces and the rolls stayed sharp. If you try to cut the exhaust pipe in place, you most likely won't be able to thread the chain through the gaps, and you may not even have enough room to rotate the tool to cut the entire pipe.

Pros
  • Ideal for outdoor activities
Cons
  • Some small items

Saw is a much better option (or dozed off). When you're on a baguette.

Works. I will give But cutting through anything but paper is a JOB. Had to cut the old exhaust off the 2003 Trailblazer and although it worked in the end it took a lot of effort. Saw is a much better option (or dozed off). It's probably a lot easier to cut through the smaller exhaust, the Trailblazer has a 2.5" system so the pipes are pretty big.

Pros
  • The best in its niche
Cons
  • Slightly wrinkled

Faded after three cuts for me.

I think this is a one time tool. This allows me to work with the exhaust alone, but I found it got boring after three cuts. I managed the fourth cut, but it was difficult. I really like that the cut requires only a quarter turn of freedom of movement, as well as a very small gap. For the price I think it's worth it. , and bought another one to work with a different exhaust. There is a replacement chain but at the moment it costs the same as the whole tool.

Great product but be careful 1/4 is recommended.

I have had this product for about 6 months now. I've used it several times for projects on my car and for general cutting. Overall this is a good product when used properly. I made the mistake of cutting the exhaust pipe first by only rotating the cutter 1/4 turn to cut the pipe. This resulted in an uneven cut and the need to get another tool to cut the last 1 inch that was missed by the cutter. I recommend at least 1/2 turn per stroke to cut evenly. The handle is nice and feels good in the…

Works great on a 1.5 " exhaust pipe

Important tips: 1: The pipe to be cut must be secured somehow, otherwise it will be much more difficult to achieve the required torque with a wrench . 2: oil the chain! I used air tool oil and it worked great. 3. After wrapping the pipe with a wrench, gently compress at least 1/4 turn, 1/2 turn would be better, but 1/4 turn works in tight spaces. . Then squeeze the handles VERY hard and you will feel the blades sink into a small groove. Hold as tight as you can and twist back and forth 1/4 to…

Pros
  • This is great
Cons
  • I won't say anything

Good for non-exhaust pipes

I tried this on my 2" muffler pipe and found that it wouldn't even "hook" on the nearest cut-off washer (i.e. ideally open a wrench and then connect it to the next cutting blade (i.e. each blade has a "pin" that "attaches" to the wrench). So I was forced to use the closest blade that wouldn't close around the pipe, even though I squeezed it until my palms felt like they were going to come off my hands! The best I could do was just score the surface of the pipe and it wasn't a straight cut. The…
