Worked on Sonic 1.8 2016

Worked as it should. Insert them directly into the cam wheels and lock them together, making the job easier and cheaper than truck prices. Worked for me on Sonic 1.8 2016.

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • Not the best

Will not fit without slight modification

This tool is required to ensure proper camshaft timing on a 1.8 Chevy Cruze. It worked but I had to sand the back of the cam lock blocks to get them in between the cam discs, after they were done they worked fine and did the job.

Pros
  • Confident
Cons
  • Interval

Great tool for the price 👨‍🔧

Worked great with accuracy. The tool cart wants 300.00 for the same set. I do a lot of head gaskets for GM 1.4, 1.6, 1.8 punctures. This is not a problem! 21.00 cam lock that really works. I also have a turbocharged Orion Castle. Fits like a glove. Double cam Opel. With this kit it is very easy to adjust the timing chain!

Pros
  • GOLS certified
Cons
  • I won't say anything

Not suitable for timing belt tool

When purchasing this product, the description stated that the product is suitable for Chevy Aveo 2006, does not fit. The gap between the camshafts is too small for installing an eccentric lock. Bought exclusively to change the timing belt. The new listing shows a model-specific guide image to better match the model. I would never have bought the product if I had had this information at the time.

Pros
  • Many positive emotions
Cons
  • There are problems

Worked great on my buddies 2013 Chevy Sonic

We tried replacing the timing belt without using either of these kits. Just avoid the hassle! The head spring pressure ensures that the engine is not at top dead center. You will need one of these kits to put the head together so you can remove and reattach the strap. It took us about 5 hours because we didn't have any of these sets initially.

Pros
  • Great overall performance
Cons
  • Empty

Awesome, wish I knew this existed before!

Very useful! At $30, it definitely beats the $500 in tooling that replaces the Chevy version. I wish I had found this tool before I messed up the timing belt and bent a few valves. Now I know there are tools for that, but I'll just take it as a lesson learned. This tool will even fit and work on the 2014 Chevrolet Sonic, but this tool will only work if you use it before tensioning the belt. I will use it to time the car after I find and replace the valves.

Pros
  • Impressive
Cons
  • Definitely a bad product

Good value for money. got a job

Bought this kit for my 2008 Saturn Astra. Two tools I didn't need: a timing belt tensioner adjustment pin (since the Gates timing belt kit doesn't have a slot for it) and an L-shaped flywheel locking tool (I don't think it's meant to be used with the 1.8L). Another flywheel locking tool was useless. I found it much easier to use a 4mm allen key. The main reason I bought this kit was for the camshaft alignment tools and camshaft locking bar. They worked very well and saved me a lot of money…

Doesn't work immediately after installation

Bad at first1. Cam gear locking parts would not work without significant grinding of the mating surfaces. They may have been cast and cooling caused some warping and the anti-corrosion coating caused sticking to the surface. After careful sanding, fitting, sanding, etc., everything worked fine. Sidenote DO NOT attempt to turn the pinion lock counter-clockwise or you could loosen the screw and cause catastrophic engine damage if the cam timing "slips".2. The crankshaft holding tool had to be…

Does not work on Aveo 2008!

Although a 2008 Chevrolet Aveo 1.6L is listed as an application, this tool is not suitable for cam locking. In truth, the timing belt can easily be replaced without it. The 2 camshafts have a recess that can be aligned with each other when the crankshaft rotates. You can take white paint and paint the cog on top of each camshaft and the cog at the 4 o'clock position of the crankshaft before removing the old belt. Then draw marks on the timing belt to match the painted teeth. After removing the…
