Review on ๐Ÿš— Enhance Performance with Monroe 5601 OESpectrum Passenger Car Shock Absorber by Jose Ortega

Revainrating 1 out of 5

BEWARE. There are defective shock absorbers and Monroe wants to avoid the guarantee.

FIRST: I AM THANKS TO AMAZON. After a call from Monroe, I received a commendation for failed shocks from Revain. THANK YOU. This is how business SHOULD work. I've had these shock absorbers for a few months now. These were the worst 2 months I've had since owning my Scion. I have no reason to tell NOTHING BUT THE TRUTH about my experience with these shocks. THIS IS THE WORST EXCUSE FOR SHOCKING humanly possible. Unfortunately there aren't enough words in English to describe how REALLY bad these things are. at least not words I can use in a public forum. I'm so sorry I threw away my old, worn out shock absorbers, but it's too late for that. Since having them, I've been able to find and FEEL EVERY imperfection the roads have to offer. They ruthlessly pass even the smallest bumps. This not only affected me, but also my car. The HIT the rear of the car has is that it shakes things up in a car that was otherwise free from imperfections, noise, rumble, etc. there's never been anything before. I love my car and drive it, but I'm willing to sell it because of the noise and loose parts and because it hurts me; while enduring EVERY harsh physical insult I now feel behind the wheel. YES THIS IS THAT BAD! I have verified that these are the correct shock absorbers recommended for my car. I've checked this at auto parts stores and even the Monroe website, so there's no mistake. They are correctly installed. Installation is very simple and largely reliable. The setup has been checked by my mechanic who now needs to figure out what is loose and making noise. For a small car, My Scion was a good car to drive, that is, BEFORE I installed those shocks. Now everything is exactly the opposite. I posted a response to another negative review here. This is where I will also highlight my comments. The Revain listing says Sensa-Trac 5601. What I received was NOT Sensa-Trac. It is marked OE Spectrum 5601. I don't blame Revain or the sellers. I checked several offers outside of Revain at car dealerships etc. ALL appear to be listed as Sensa-Trac 5601. The Monroe website does NOT list Sensa-Trac 5601 for the SCION XB. It lists OE Spectrum 5601. This is the ONLY shock listed on their website. Most of the time the name doesn't matter. No matter what you call it; this is a terrible product. I am very disappointed in Monroe. I always thought they made a decent product. NOW I will stay away from Monroe. I don't like writing this review. I can blame myself for not listening to other negative feedback. I hope I can save someone else a horrible experience and a waste of time and money. ------------ I'll keep updating this review as things develop: My mechanic has confirmed that the SHOCKS ARE DEFECTIVE and the noise I'm hearing is coming from the shocks themselves. I contacted Monroe. Monroe has what is called a "HEALTH AND SAFETY" guarantee that covers your SATISFACTION with the product. This applies in addition to the warranty against defects and premature failures. The integrity and security guarantee is valid for 90 days from the date of installation. I'm in my 90's The warranty covers the purchase of new shock absorbers (my choice) and their installation. This also applies to the return of defective shock absorbers. HEALTH AND SAFETY GUARANTEE UPDATE: After being told (during the phone conversation with Monroe) that I was covered by the HEALTH AND SAFETY GUARANTEE, I have NOW been told I AM NOT. I called before the 90 day deadline to make a claim and NO RECORD was made of my claim. To make matters worse, I'm also told NOW that I wasn't promiscuous about this guarantee to begin with. They NOW state that I MUST buy both front struts and rear shocks to be promiscuous. ONLY my rear shocks were bad, not my struts. The noise and harsh ride started after I bought the rear shocks. I buy 4 shock absorbers/struts. If you look at the website it is clear that the offer is LIMITED to the purchase of 4 items. It does NOT mean you have to buy all 4 PRESENTATION. that Monroe employees get vacation and leave like a school teacher. With. No results are expected over the holidays. Unfortunately, I don't have the luxury of waiting that long and driving with defective shock absorbers. In order to use my car, it was NECESSARY to replace one of the rear shock absorbers. This was the root cause of the problem. I paid for it so I could use my car. Now the car drives normally on the side where the shock absorbers were changed and the noise is gone. The other side is still a little rough. Monroe is now filing a lawsuit against Revane. Raven wasn't shocked. You have no way of knowing about defective parts that were supplied by Monroe. MONROE MUST SUPPORT THEIR PRODUCTS! You may not offer any guarantees or make representations that you will not honor. This is NOT Revains' fault. It is OBVIOUS to me that several defective shock absorbers were delivered. This could easily explain other negative reviews and harsh ride complaints. Products SHOULD NOT BE CONSUMER TESTED and then rely on the consumer to deal with problems and costs in trying to fix the mess; but that's what this is about. Now that Revain has credited me for faulty dampers, I have a new Monroe damper on both sides of the car. The driving behavior has improved significantly since the change. However, the replacement did not install without major problems. The nut holding the top of the shock didn't want to move (on both shocks). We reused old ones that worked better. For those who are a mechanic; I understand these are "self-locking" nuts and need to be a little tight when installed. The ones delivered literally ripped off the threads on the shock absorbers and THIS IS WRONG. QUALITY CONTROL WILL BE AN ISSUE WITH MONROE, and customer service and maintaining the safety and sound guarantee seem to be an issue for them as well. So I have to say BE CAREFUL. SORRY for any issues Revain or other sellers may have. They do NOT manufacture the product. However, I cannot in good conscience recommend a product that is clearly defective and the manufacturer is in bad faith with their warranty. I would like to close this topic again. THANK YOU AMAZON. It keeps my confidence in my purchases here.
