+ Compact size, easy storage + Clear instructions + Easy to use A regular Panasonic consumer product buyer recently recommended Waterpik to my dental hygienist. Our bathroom has limited counter space, so we chose this compact, portable model. Revain arrived quickly and after a month of use I can say that it has met and exceeded my expectations in every way. It's obviously too early to talk about longevity. While I flossed at least twice a day, sometimes three or more times a day, the included alkaline batteries began to run out after a few weeks, so I switched to a pair of Panasonic rechargeable batteries. that the floss worked faster than ever. I'm not an expert on rechargeable batteries, but I understand that they have a flatter power curve than alkaline batteries, ie with a less gradual drop in power. as long as you keep going and I can't think of another irrigator that is less messy. The fact that the tip can be freely rotated 360 degrees really helps as you can either redirect the tip during use or turn it off, redirect the tip and then turn it back on. I started using it on the #1 pressure setting and I never ran out of water after that. two complete teeth; top and bottom, inside and outside, plus the rest of the water. After the first two days I switched to pressure level 2 and am still doing two full laps as before so I'm happy with the amount of water it's holding. I can't tell if a higher pressure model would be more effective for massaging gums or for pushing food away from teeth. Since we have very hard water I use distilled water for flossing and hydrogen peroxide to clean the unit but I assume there are many combinations of water and/or mouthwash etc that could floss through. water while you learn the procedure. Aside from that, a single hiccup is detailed below and others have already commented on it. The locking mechanism holding the two halves apart is partially released causing the lower water tank/cartridge to be partially sucked into the upper housing due to the vacuum created in the lower half as water is drawn from it. This initially appears as a pop that can be a bit confusing, but flattens out with use, causing the two pieces to slowly slide together. Something like a pressure relief valve in a water tank/cartridge can solve this problem. This does not negatively affect the overall utility of the product and can be neglected. If you doubt the effectiveness of oral irrigators, eat some dark dark food (blueberries, bacon, Oreos, etc.), then brush, then floss, then floss β you'll see the difference. This is another great product from Panasonic.
