I bought these in a special votive holder that required a lower profile tea light mold and they fit great. The smaller size allows light to penetrate deeper into my flat holder making it look more realistic. The bulb is amber in color and flickers randomly which also makes it beautiful. They are battery operated, no timer, just an on/off switch at the base. Since they don't have a timer or remote control, you have to turn them on and off manually, which can be a pain to remember. But even if I forget, the batteries last a very long time and I haven't had to change them yet. (They are interchangeable so great for recycling!) I would buy them again if I needed a larger light than a votive.
