Bought these floorstanding speakers after hearing them from a friend. My friend drives them with a matching Bose amp and I drive them with a Denon AVR4500. Both amplifiers drive these speakers equally well. These Bose speakers are the only floorstanding speakers with two tweeters and one woofer, which makes them sound better than other speakers I've compared them to. Using a Denon AVR4500, I compared these speakers to the giant Klipsch AW-650 floorstanding speakers, Klipsch 15M bookshelf speakers and Kef Q150 bookshelf speakers. The giant Klipsch AW-650 floorstanding speakers were a huge disappointment and ended up in last place (back quickly!). The Bose 251 speakers sounded much better than the Klipsch AW650 and Klipsch R-15 speakers. Obviously the Kef Q150s were the best overall, but the Bose 251s were a tiny second (and I've not been a Bose fan in the past, so I was very impressed with their performance). My wife and I blind-audited all the speakers to see which ones we liked the most. All speakers were connected to a Denon AVR-4500 in our living room, same speaker cables and banana plugs with the subwoofer off. Speaking of which, the Bose 251s sound great inside and out without an additional subwoofer.
