First, let's get the obvious out of the way. Potensic D58 drone for $199. You can't compare it to DJI drones that cost between $600 and $1,600. It won't fly, it won't have the same stability, design and reliability, and it won't come with a camera that takes high-resolution pictures or videos. Now that you've set your expectations accordingly, let's actually see what this drone does well. In my opinion, this drone is a good choice for those who don't want to spend a lot of money to learn how to fly a drone. For $199, you get a pretty accurate idea of what it's like to fly a high-end drone like the DJI Mavic Pro. The controls and interface are very similar, the drone is easy to set up, and everything connects together surprisingly quickly and effortlessly. Of course it doesn't have the engine power to fly in strong winds and the camera and stabilization aren't the best, but that's not the point. Instead of risking a $1,000 drone to teach yourself or your kid to fly, you now have a pretty good starter drone that can be flown right out of its case in minutes. Some other features worth mentioning. Battery life is about what you would expect at this price point. A single battery will give you about 15 minutes maximum, less if the motors run harder in high winds. My device had 2 batteries. The camera is not stabilized with the 3-axis gimbal found on more expensive DJI products. Instead, it hangs in a flexible plastic casing that doesn't always deliver smooth video. Again, I think if you're considering something in this price range, photo and video quality probably won't be high on your priority list. Finally, the drone is small - it looks like a 3/5 scale model of the DJI Phantom and packs very easily into the included case, which itself is very compact. It is lightweight and easy to carry. I have two high end DJI drones and the Potensic D58 will be the drone my daughter will use to learn to fly. I'm sure this drone will help her learn the basics of flying without the risk of damaging a much more expensive aircraft. Keep your expectations reasonable and Potensic can serve you well.
