Review on πŸš’ Carrand 90051 Fire Hose Nozzle with Heavy Duty Performance and On/Off Switch (Colors May Vary) by Scott Vazquez

Weak version for car wash

I already have the same nozzle but without the shut off valve and I like this nozzle. I'm fine. The only thing I could even remotely say that's wrong with the old one is the lack of such an instant shutdown feature, although that's really only minor. I thought that would solve the problem. Yes and no. Yes, it shuts off the water immediately. Now for the less important part. The valve they built into this nozzle to provide the instant shut off feature reduces the size of the jet so much that you lose a lot of hydropower due to the smaller amount of water you are using. Most water hoses these days are 5/8" in diameter, and the hole in this valve is closer to 3/8" - 1/2" (I'm doing this visually, I didn't actually measure it, sorry). Using available water pressure to push a volume of water through a limited, predetermined area. If you further restrict the area by closing the nozzle, you will get a different shape and a harder stream of water. If you take the same nozzle and water pressure and reduce the amount of water available with a smaller orifice and then force it through the same restricted orifice, you reduce the strength of that water, which can be counterproductive compared to what you're using in the first round a nozzle. Also, when I first used the jet, I found that the top half of the stop switch itself came loose very easily. It's the little yellow part that you use to physically control the valve and shut off the water flow. apart to allow access to the screw holding the "operator". on top of the valve stem. While you can still operate the valve when it's off, you end up doing so with only half the thickness of the operator's switch and it has a sharp, slightly sharp plastic edge. Luckily I haven't lost the top half (yet) and will try to glue it back in place as I don't expect to ever have to service this valve. It is to be hoped that the screw will not loosen over time and will not have to be tightened. If you're lucky, that's it, and I'll tape this thing shut. Well, it's a one-time thing. One I wouldn't buy again.

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel
Cons
  • Modern
