Review on 🐋 Davis Instruments XL Whale Tail Hydrofoil Stabilizer by Brandon Ball

These hydrofoils do exactly what they're supposed to do: lift the fuselage out of the water and lift you onto the plane. This is a good cast aluminum product with hardware and installation instructions. I spent some time making sure mine was centered and aligned before drilling holes in my cavitation plate, but you can do this in 15 minutes as advertised with a drill, a 1/4" bit and a couple of 7 /16 inch install. I had my 12ft Livingston with a 20hp Yamaha 4 stroke engine. with tiller steering for 1 year. I've never ridden a boat alone. If I have an adult ride the bow I can barely get it to plane and the top speed was 16mph. I changed the propellers from step 11 to step 9 and got a tiller extension handle. still couldn't plan on my own. Today I turned on this hydrofoil/whale story and rented a boat. I am shocked how effective it was! Went quickly alone, with no tiller extension, no extra weight on the nose, and hit 19mph. I was able to use the trimmer to get to 20mph. Now I'm going back to my 11 speed prop and see if I can get more speed. This is amazing, I got so tired of fighting this boat that I wanted to sell it and buy something else. I'm so happy with it, it's a relief.
