Review on Rowenta VU2631 Turbo Silence Table Fan: Powerful 4-Speed Portable Fan with User-Friendly Turn Dial by Katie Jackson

Revainrating 5 out of 5

The beep blues button works best for heating, cooling, and air quality.

Your Rowenta VU2600 Turbo Silence Extreme 5-speed will rock you with its cool breeze. When you fall asleep, turn off the fan in its signature "Silent Sleep" mode and a deafening beep will bring you back to reality. That beep is the most annoying thing on the planet. Here's why I hate him. #1 - Beep is loud. For heaven's sake, why would anyone create "the quietest fan in the world" and when that's all done blow the loudest horn known to man. It's like every time you press a button, a truck appears in your room. #2 - The beep is annoying. Not only is it loud, it's annoying. The possibilities for the sounds it can be are UNLIMITED. They could choose any sound on the planet, from a gentle chime to a soothing click, and after careful consideration, they settled on the "Alarm Clock Everyone Hates” sound effect. #3 - Beep makes no sense. I can here your objections on this matter. It is clear that the purpose of the beeps is to alert the user to a change in settings. This can be useful when the fridge beeps to alert you that the door has been left open. It's not a fridge, it's a fan that moves air. It's not hard at all to tell it's on or the speed has changed. You can feel your finger pressing the button, see the fan spinning, and feel the air or lack of air against your skin. There is NO ACTUAL reason to include a sound effect at all. Removing a speaker that beeps isn't too difficult, but no consumer would need to disassemble their new fan to keep it from sucking. So the rating is 1 out of 5 despite the fix. ---- How to uninstall --- THIS MAY VOID WARRANTY and I do not recommend anyone to follow the steps below. PROCEED WITH CAUTION. This makes the fan 100 times better. Disassemble the thing and exorcise the demon. There were some tricky torx screws that get in the way but can be hammered out with a flat head the right size. I am attaching a photo of where the speaker is located. Gently pull on this speaker with pliers and it should come loose. Cut the copper wires connecting the speaker to the circuit board. Put everything back together and you have a much better product.
