Review on ๐Ÿพ PlexiDor Bronze Performance Pet Doors for Dogs and Cats by Betty Tucker

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Large door missing 1 feature

I was very happy to find a dog door big enough for my Great Danes. It's huge. And my husband and I can get through this on our own. This thing is well made and I like the saloon style doors more than the hinged ones. It also seems to have a pretty good seal - although in winter we get a better idea of how much air is escaping. The doors are so heavy that I *hope* squirrels can't open them even if they try. Our 11 week old Great Dane puppy took to it straight away and had no problems. Our 11 month old Dane suspects the doors swing open and won't use it yet but I'm sure once he has the courage to do it once he'll find there's nothing wrong with it (he's a chicken) . when it comes to some things!). The only reason I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is because the security door glides are not included. When paying $600 for a door, I don't like that I have to buy a $100 accessory for what I consider a basic function. It closes without a security door, which is good, but to install the steel security plate you need to drive 4 screws. I won't do this every time I lock the door! It's not that I'm concerned about security (I can walk through that door - if someone wants to come into your house, they'll find a way no matter what), but it would be nice to be able to put up a sign like that The dogs know the door is "closed". Sometimes I lock it at night and the pup decides to go outside and he just sits there and knocks on the door and wonders why it won't open. Update: It's been 9 months but our Senior Dane is finally leaving. through the door! So far the seal seems to be doing a pretty good job over the winter.
