My guitar has non-original active EMG pickups that were installed by the previous owner, there is no dedicated battery compartment, the battery was always just wrapped in thin cardboard/insulated tape and installed in the switch compartment between the 3-position switch and the pots. Every time the battery went low or died, I had to remove the back panel to replace the battery. Drilled a small hole in the back plate and connected the mini USB charging cable to the battery and fed the wire through the hole. Now, after a jam session, I just plug the USB battery pack into my guitar and charge the internal battery. :) ps For longer gigs I can even mount the power supply on the guitar strap and connect it to this battery so I really never have to worry about the internal battery going dead while playing :)
