Revainrating 5 out of 5

Updated: GPT partitions are shredded and not compatible with USB 3.1 Gen2 (10GB)(?)

I like Sabrent products and found this product to work very well initially. I didn't use the disk cloning option but found excellent read/write speeds (180MB+) including between two disks on the same docking station. However, I initially gave the device bad reviews and sent it back because it shredded GPT partitions on my 4TB drives. I later updated the rating to correct my statement that the problem was with the system (and increased the rating to 4 stars). I am now updating the rating again and downgrading the device to 1 star as this was indeed an issue with the device. After returning this Sabrent device, I bought an Inateck Dual Dock (FBA_FD2002) and this device also corrupted the GPT partitions. There were no problems after switching to the old dual USB 3.0 docking station and connecting additional drives via eSATA. So I suspect that the ASMedia ASM1156 chip shared with both devices is the culprit when used with Windows 10. Also, no device will work with the ASM1156 part when plugged into a USB 3.1 Gen2 (10Gb) port on my MSI system with AMI UEFI. BIOS. In summary, I would strongly advise against buying docking stations with this chip, including the Inateck FD2005-BK-US docking station, which is a clone of this Sabrent device [apparently an OEM from the same manufacturer, but sells for $1 less(?)]. What a mess.
